Terry Lomax speaker of the Padova Pole Vault Convention + High Jump

He coached Hamish Kerr, the Olympic champion in Paris 2024, from 2019 to 2024, first as Lead Coach, then as Technical and Planning of the team that accompanied him to the Olympics. In his career he has coached Glenn Howard and Robbie Grabarz

Terry Lomax has a rich history of over 20 years as a teacher, alongside a distinguished career in athletics. He spent 9 years with UK Athletics and 15 years with Athletics New Zealand. As an athlete, Terry was a New Zealand High Jump and Decathlon Champion, notably becoming the first New Zealander to clear 7 feet in the high jump. He also represented New Zealand at the Commonwealth Games in both high jump and decathlon.

As a coach, he served as the former New Zealand National Coach for sprints, relays, high jump, and horizontal jumps, and was the UK National High Jump Coach from 2001 to 2009. Currently, Terry leads the New Zealand coaching team for jumps and combined events. His experience includes coaching teams at multiple global competitions, such as the World Championships (U18, U20), World Championships, Olympic Games, Commonwealth Games, and Universiade. Additionally, Terry previously coached the New Zealand men’s volleyball team.

Among the athletes Terry has coached are Glenn Howard, the first New Zealander to clear 2.30m; Robbie Grabarz, Olympic High Jump Silver Medalist in 2012; and Hamish Kerr, a World Indoor Champion and Olympic finalist from 2019 to 2024.

Participants who have purchased the ‘Under 30’ ticket and do not meet the criteria will have to pay the difference in price for the standard ticket. Those who do not complete the integration will not be entitled to access the event.

How will it work for the new edition?

Convention will be held as last year both in-person and online.

It will be possible to participate in only one day of the convention depending on which discipline you are most interested in (high jump/pole vault), or both days. When purchasing your ticket, you will be able to indicate whether you also want to participate in the competition on 4 January. In the tickets page you can find all info about prices and details.

To participate in the competition at the moment, you need to buy a ticket to the convention. When purchasing your ticket, you will be asked whether or not you want to participate as an athlete in the 4 January competition. Pre-registration for the competition only will be opened later.
